Senior Packaging Engineer
In the framework of the Group Continuous Improvement program, called I-Cube, the senior packaging engineer provides technical expertise in packaging in order to ensure a high standard of packaging process performance throughout the Imerys plants.
He/she is also in charge of leading Packaging optimisation projects at Group level taking advantage of his/her general Packaging knowledge and related process topics (powder behaviours for instance). These projects, often conducted in collaboration with our Purchasing team, aim at reducing the costs of packaging for Imerys whilst ensuring the best service to our customers.
He/she is responsible to develop the packaging know-how by providing audits, surveys, training sessions in the packaging expertise field as well as support networking within a decentralized Group.
He/she is involved in technical communities facilitation like (I3, Process, Maintenance), for instance by transferring Good Practices from one BA to another one.
Scope: Imerys Worldwide, requiring travelling around 30/50% of the time or in virtual mode thanks to new remote systems.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities
Packaging expertise support
Bring his/her expertise in Packaging in order to help improving the packaging performance at Imerys:
By organizing packaging efficiency assessments (diagnosis/audits), identify areas of improvement across various Imerys plants and help them build / implement improvement action plans. By supporting plants on specific packaging improvement requests. By helping the teams to find ideas to upgrade existing packaging lines and define new ones. Packaging improvement will focus on productivity optimisation thanks to
packaging lines OEE optimization (speed, performance, quality) FTE organisation in the packaging zones optimisation, Waste analysis and reduction (products, bags, pallets, plastic film..), Filling rate of the bags or big bags or bulk, Bag design optimization in collaboration with purchasing Improvement of flow sheet & equipment performance, etc . All the technical solutions for packaging improvement have to be evaluated considering CAPEX and OPEX. Thanks to his/her expertise, the packaging engineer will be able to assess and improve as well the safety of the employees working on the packaging lines
Support BA or Group project managers for Capex with new packaging lines implementation. Lead at Group level, packaging project optimisation with process or maintenance engineers and I3 champions
Identify the sites that have common issues with their packaging lines Gather good practices from the sites and share them in order to improve overall performance Collect inputs from external companies like suppliers, consulting companies… to feed the reflection and generate new ideas of optimization Work on packaging standardization in order to reduce costs Manage the project thanks to project management methodologies Communicate on project deliverables and be sure the BAs have taken into consideration the outputs of the projects.
Provide internal Packaging optimisation trainings to the Maintenance engineers, Process engineers, I3 champions, purchasing population across Imerys plants
Provide “standard” training modules (packaging efficiency analysis, for instance) Design specific training modules to answer specific plants/BAs requests
Share knowledge within various communities like process engineers community Promote networking within the Group by encouraging sharing information and good practices, through events, webinars, e-community management, etc.
Graduated from an engineering school
At least 10 years’ experience in packaging and process engineering field including expertise in:
General process techniques ( mass balance, sampling, yield optimisation, etc ) Excellent knowledge in Packaging equipment, Packaging efficiency and projects Very good project manager and has led several packaging projects Scientific / analytical training; at ease with data; Six sigma training is a +
Able to understand the specificity of the industrial minerals industry and able to adapt to the various Imerys contexts that means lots of optimisation have to be done on existing packaging lines without big capex involvement. Wide experience in packaging technologies Knowledge in material balance, simulation softwares for optimisation
Fluent English compulsory, any other language skills appreciated
